About Us

A Legacy of Boxing Excellence

At Hatton Boxing & Education we aim to be an integral part of the wider education system.

Through delivering boxing, personal development and employability sessions, we aim to engage and inspire young people who have poor attendance at school or are at risk of exclusion. Boxing reduces crime by providing a safe space to develop positive skills and relationships, it is an alternative to anti-social activities such as gangs and street crime. It builds discipline, self-belief, resilience and commitment. It also gives young people a sense of family – something that many have not experienced and could otherwise seek within gang culture.

Positive male and female role models provide strong, relatable, healthy examples to look upto and emulate. Evidence suggests sport can be effective in reducing offending among young people. Community sport, delivered in the right way, can have a transformational impact on young people’s lives and the communities they live in. Young people will have the opportunity to achieve GB Boxing awards and AQA unit award in personal development topics. A safe space for optional counselling sessions is also an option to achieve best out comes for the young person. Young people will get the opportunity to focus on ‘what next?’ with links to employers and work experience opportunities.

Our Story

MOVING ON TO POSITIVE FUTURES

Magic Hatton Boxing & Fitness opened in 2017 at the thriving Pear Mill in Stockport by former European Boxing Champion Matthew Hatton. Primarily, the facility was opened as a successful boxing and fitness gym.

Fast forward 8 years and we are now the home to Magic Hatton ABC with over 40 members ranging from schools, juniors, youth and senior boxers. We are proud to work alongside Stockport Council supporting the youth offending service, Greater Manchester Police and Maverick Stars Trust ‘Operation Warrior’ for the Armed Forces Veterans.

We believe that boxing and physical activity has the power to instil respect, discipline, confidence and build resilience. We have seen first-hand evidence of this on our ‘Friday night youth’ provision where young people are thriving and moving on to positive futures.

In collaboration with Schools and local authorities, Hatton Boxing & Education will offer an alternative education to young people who are at risk of exclusion or who may be low or non-attenders due to social, emotional and mental health challenges. Our vision will bring boxing, personal development and employability together to raise the bar for our local young people in the surrounding local authorities.

ABASSADORS

Ricky Hatton MBE - Ricky Hatton is a former 2 weight and 4-time World Boxing Champion

“I have seen first-hand how boxing can have a positive impact on the youth of today. The boxing gym is a real safe space to make friends and to reduce stress and anxiety. There are so many teenagers not attending school and it is great to be able to provide something different for them to help them get back on track and boost their self – esteem. As a mental health ambassador for CALM we hope to create support links for any young people who need that that extra bit of help”.
